TL;DR
Score your site on 8 factors: crawler access, server rendering, structured data, FAQ markup, entity consistency, direct answers, internal linking, and external mentions. Score 7+/8 = ahead of 95% of brands.
You're probably invisible. Let's find out.
AI search engines drive a growing share of product discovery. When someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation in your category, you're either cited or you're not. This audit takes 15 minutes. No tools required.
1. Crawler access
Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt. Search for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot. Any Disallow rules = you're blocked. Common gotcha: Cloudflare bot protection blocks AI crawlers without visible robots.txt entries.
2. Server rendering
Run: curl -s https://yourdomain.com/products/your-product | grep -i "product name". If your product name isn't in the raw HTML, AI can't see it.
3. Structured data
View source, search for application/ld+json. Look for Organization, Product, FAQPage, Article schemas. Must be in HTML source, not injected via GTM/JavaScript.
4-8: Entity consistency, direct answers, internal linking, FAQ markup, external mentions
Check brand name consistency across 5 pages. Verify H2 headings are questions with direct first-paragraph answers. Count internal links per article (target: 5+). Check FAQPage schema on top pages. Search for external brand mentions.
Scoring
7-8/8: Ahead of 95% of commerce brands. 5-6: Foundation exists, technical gaps holding you back. 3-4: Significant gaps. 0-2: Invisible to AI search.
